Answer» HEYA!! --------- ↘Gold foil was USED by Ernest Rutherford for his ALPHA PARTICLES SCATTERING experiments as Gold is an UN reactive ( noble metal ) . It is malleable and hence it's thin foil allowed easy deflection of the alpha particles.
