It derived its name from a former convent of St Jacob in Paris.The members of Jacobin club were mostly less prosperious sections of the society. This included the shoppkeepers, shoemakers, pastry cooks, watch-makers, printers,as well as servants and daily-wage workers.The club was formed due to political climate that mistreated the people of France.
