While diluting an acid, why is it recommended that the acid should be added to water not water to the acid ? |
|
Answer» We should always add an acid to water, otherwise so much heat is produced during reaction that the container specially that of glass may break. The hot contents may also cause an explosion and spill on our clothes and body resulting serious acid burns. Mixing an acid with water resulting decrease in the concentration of ions per unit volume. It reduces the risk. |
