Which is the following is not ture for a lithium battery?

Answer»

Edison cell
Lead storage cell
`Ni-Cd` cell
All of these

Solution :Edison cell of Edison ACCUMULATOR is a nickel-iron accumulator, named after `T.A.` Edison `(1847-1931)`.
Lead storage cell (an automobile battery) can last fro several uears if precautions are taken. Its long life is based on the ability of the battery to funcation not only as agalvanic cell but also as an electrolytic cell. As a galvanic cell, the lead storage battery converts chemical energy into electrical energy. As an electrolytic cell, the battery converts electrical energy into chemical energy. The cycle can be repeated many times. When an automobile engine runs, it drives an electrical generator or alternator, a source of electrical current. This current FLOWS into the battery in a direction that reverses the two half-cell reactions and THUS the overall cell reaction. The direct conversion of chemical energy to electrical energy that takes place in galvanic cells is highly efficient, but it is also expensive. Fossil-fuel plants are only about `40%` efficient, which means that most of their energy is lost to the surroundings.
But even in the days of high energy prices, coal, OIL, and natural GAS are much cheaper that batteries are economically competitive only in specialized applications.
