Answer» After coming out of the stomach and upon entering the small intestine, the food is acidic due to the action of the Hcl. However, the enzymes that react with the food in the small intestine need an alkali medium. Bile does this; it neutralises the food and then provides an alkali medium for the various enzymes to act. Additionally, bile also emulsifies fat. Alkaline medium is present in bile juice.. |
