Answer» When the TIP of a pedicel swells up and becomes a small pad,it is KNOWN as receptacle or THALAMUS. It is a PART which all the floral parts are attached. Depending upon the plant species,it may be dom shaped, concave or flat. In most cases, thalamus is short,but in some cases it becomes elongated.
