What is the difference between speciation and evolution..? |
| Answer» Evolution is defined as evolution of different organisms from one common ancestor. For example, humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor. Organisms are different from each other due to various adaptations accumulated over time, humans evolved to become more intelligent than apes and developed complex languages for communication. This image is an oversimplified illustration of human evolution.Speciation on the other hand, is the diversion of a single organism\'s population into 2 or more genetically different groups. Speciation is caused mainly because of isolation of two groups of the organism\'s population, mostly geographic which leads to reproducive isolation, meaning the two groups stop breeding with each other.Neanderthals and modern humans were two separate species of the same organism, humans. | |
