what is the change in internal energy of one mole of monoatomic gas when temperature is increased by 200 degree Celsius adiabatically and reversibly ( ans -2.50 ) solve it

Answer»

for ADIABATIC process,

change in internal energy = nC_v\Delta T

where n is number of moles of gas, C_v is MOLAR heat capacity at constant volume and ∆T is change in temperature .

GIVEN, n = 1, ∆T = 200°C or, 200K [change in temperature in Celsius is same as Kelvin ]

for monoatomic gas, Cv = 3R/2 , where R is UNIVERSAL gas constant.i.e., R = 25/3 J/mol.K

now, change in internal energy = 1 × 3/2 × 25/3 × 200 J

= 2500 J

= 2.50 KJ
