What is the cause for dispersion of white light? |
| Answer» DISPERSION occurs because the refraction of different colours is different. Hence the refractive index of the medium is largest for the violet colour and LEAST for the RED colour. We can MAKE it happen by passing a white light into a prism. Best example of dispersion would be a rainbow which is formed when sun's rays pass through the WATER droplets during rain. White light consists of seven colours: Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. | |
