What is roasting and calcination

Answer» Roasting- it is a process through which sulphide and carbonate ore are transformed into oxides by heating in the excess air .Calcination is the process of converting sulphide and carbonate ores into its oxides by heating it in limited air no extra oxygen required
Roasting is a process in which ore is heated strongly in presence of air whereas calcination is a process in which ore is heated in limited air
Changing of carbonate ores into oxide by heating in absence of oxygen is called calcination. whereas changing of sulphide ores into oxide by heating in presence of oxygen is called roasting.
