| Answer» The\xa0Purna Swaraj\xa0resolution—proclaimed on January 26, 1930, later to be celebrated as independent India\'s Republic Day—called\xa0for “complete freedom from the British” but was later interpreted by Prime Minister Nehru as permitting India to remain within the British Commonwealth.\xa0The Indian National Congress, on 19 December 1929, passed the historic \'Purna Swaraj\' – (total independence) resolution – at its Lahore session.
