Answer» Civil liberties are personal freedoms that the government cannot take a way by law without a due process such as fair judicial trial. During the Emergency, the government suspended the right to habeas corpus and misused the provision of preventive detention. The Emergency made citizens more active in the protection of their civil liberties. The Courts also initiated various checks and balances on the Executive so that fundamental rights of the citizens are protected. |
