According to Abraham Lincoln democracy is government which is for of the people , by the people and for the people. Some basic features of democracy are:- 1• Rulers are elected by the people who take all the functions.2• In democracy the final decision making power must rest with those elected by the people . 3• A democracy must be based on free and fair election where those who are currently in power have a fair chance of losing.4• It provides a method to deal with differences and conflicts.5• It enhances the dignity of citizens.
