Bakelite is the condensation polymer of phenol and formaldehyde.
It is used for the manufacture of electrical plugs and switches.
Bakelite contains cross linked molecules which on heating undergo extensive cross linking in moulds and again become in fusible. It cannot be reused. Hence, it is a thermo setting ploymer.
