What is acidity ? How it cause ?

Answer» Thanks
Our stomach produces acid (mainly hydrochloric acid) to digest the food we eat. This is a regular and natural process. Whenever we eat, the cells present on the lining of the stomach pump acid to liquefy the food. If all is working properly (without gastric ulcer) the lining of stomach has an intact mucosal membrane which forms a barrier and protects us against the acid action.Problem occurs when these cells produce large amount of acid, more than your stomach needs. When this happens, you will suffer from stomach acidity; feel a burning sensation just above the stomach, or right below your breastbone. This is the most classic sign of acidity. Sometimes stomach acid is creeping back up to oesophagus, which is naturally an alkaline environment that also causes a burning sensation.
