there are two main types of semiconductors P type semi conductor and N type semiconductor

P type semiconductor is obtained by dopping an INTRINSIC semiconductor with elements of group 3 e.g boron and aluminium

while

N type semiconductor is obtained by dopping pure semiconductor with pentavalent impurity (elements of group three) e.g phosphorus .
