Answer» Function is also a type of relation but with certain restrictions Eg let {(2,1),(2,4),(2,5)} be a relationBut it is not a function because here 2 has two different image i.e. (2,1) &(2,4) But {(2,1),(3,1),(4,5)} is a functionSo in short function is that relation in which every element of set A is joined to a unique element of set B Note: every element of given first set should be present eg. If set A is (2,3,4)And B is (3,2) So A×B = {(2,3),(2,2),(3,3),(3,2),(4,3),(4,2)} is one of relation of A×BSo {(2,3),(3,2),(4,2)} is one of its function but {(2,3),(4,2)} is not because element 3 of A is not there .Hope you get it Function is a prototype. |
