Answer»

Budding:

It is a process in which a daughter individual is formed from a small projection. the bud, arising from the parent body. It takes place in Yeast, Sycon, Hydra etc.

Budding is two types:

(a) Exogamous budding: In which an outgrowth or bud grows externally on the body surface which may or may not split away from the surface of body. e.g. sycon.

(b) Endogamous budding: In which buds are formed within the parent's body. They are called gemmules. Gemmules consist of small groups of cells enclosed by a protective coat. During favourable condition, the mass of archaeocytes comes out through micropyle and later on forms new colony.
