Diffusion is the movement of molecules from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration.

The following factors affect diffusion.

1.) Temperature — High TEMPERATURES increase the KINETIC energy of the diffusing molecules hence the diffusion rate increases.

2.) The DENSITY of the molecules — High density increase collision rate hence the rate of diffusion.

3.) The medium of diffusion — A medium with larger molecules will REDUCE collision rate and hence there will be a lower diffusion rate.

4.) Concentration gradient — The HIGHER the concentration gradient, the higher the diffusion rate.
