Answer» Causes of scoliosis: (a) Heredity defects in structure. (b) Due to any disease or deterioration of vertebrae. (c) One sided paralysis of spinal muscles. (d) Short leg of one side. (e) One side flat foot. (f) Imbalance of muscular development due to occupation or habit. (g) Some loss of strength in all the body muscles. Corrective measures: It is not very easy to correct this posture but individual should practice various exercise programmes keeping in view the following points: (a) Spinal exercise of flexion, extension, rotation, sideward flexion for developing strength in spinal extensors. (b) Hanging oneself on horizontal bar. (c) Trikonasana helps in developing those muscles. (d) Guidance of qualified physician should be obtained before going for any corrective exercise. |
