Answer» It refers to orientation of the spin of the electron. It can have two values +1 /2 and - 1 /2. If + 1 /2 identifies the clock wise spin and - 1/2 identifies the anti- clockwise spin. The region where this probability density function reduces to zero is called nodal surfaces or simply nodes.
