Dam is an artificial structure built to store river waters. A dam has many positives of course like making our FARMERS independent of monsoons and making them self RELIABLE for water needs throughout the year, however it has some severe handicaps of disturbing the NATURAL environment and natural flow of the river water. But keeping this aside I would like to share some 'cons'  of the biggest dam of India- Tehri dam in Uttarakhand. 
The construction of this dam can be called as the grand preparations of complete destruction and the largest human catastrophe. It's the largest dam in India and the height of water stored in it is 200 m (Qutub Minar is 73m). The mind blogging fact is that it is situated on ONE of the major fault zones of The Himalayas and is one of the earthquake prone areas, most vulnerable to earthquakes. If, (heaven forbid) it does experience any earthquake tremors and gets collapsed, the water stored at such a great height will take ONLY 7-9 MINUTES to reach DELHI and the destruction it will be causing can well be imagined. The irony lies in the fact that all this is being done in the name of development.
