Under which conditions will you expect the formation of compound with noble gases ??? |
|
Answer» In normal conditions (Temperature: 20°C, Pressure: 1 Atmosphere), Noble Gases (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, Xe, Rn, Og) do not REACT because they have 8 electrons in their valence / outermost shell. That means, they follow octet rule. But, if we rarefy the noble gases (i.e., keep them in low temperature and high pressure), we force them to UNDERGO chemical reactions. First noble GAS COMPOUND was formed by Neil Bartlett, which was Xenon Hexafluoroplatinate (XePtF6), formed as a product of Chemical Reaction between Xenon and Platinum Hexafluoride. Chemical Equation:- Xe (g) + PtF6 (s) → XePtF6 (s) |
