Answer» Solution :(i)At the time of Partition. Bengal was the biggest province of British India and Bihar and part of Odisha. (II) The British argued for dividing Bengal for reason of administrative convenience. But it was baseless argument. In fact the partition of the Bengal was closly TIED to the interest of British officials and businessmen. (III)The British also wanted to curtail the influence of Bengal politicians and split the Bengali people. It was done therefore, instead of removing the non-Bengali areas from the provinces. (iv) They separated East Bengal and merged it with Assam. Consequences (i) Partition ENRAGED people all over the country. (ii) Both moderates and radicals in the Congress opposed this action of the government. (iii) Public meetings and demontration BEGAN to be organised. Novelmethods of mass protest were developed. |
