In this case the resultant force will be 16 Newton. If the forces are in the same direction we get the DIFFERENCE of the forces and in this case the resultant force is 4 Newton. If the forces are PERPENDICULAR, the resultant force will be the hypotenuse of the right angled formed. The resultant force will be 11.66 N.
