Answer»

Solution :-

LET us assume that, second FRIEND had RS.x .

So,

→ Third friend had = 9000 less than the second one = Rs.(x - 9000)

and,

→ First friend had = Rs.7000 more than the third = (x - 9000) + 7000 = Rs.(x - 2000)

Statement 1) :-

  • The second friend had Rs. 27,000 .

then, Putting x = Rs.27,000 we get,

→ (x - 2000) + x + (x - 9000) = N

→ 3x - 11000 = N

→ 3 * 27000 - 11000 = N

→ 81000 - 11000 = N

→ N = Rs.70,000 .

Conclusion :-

  • Statement 1 alone is SUFFICIENT to answer the question.

Statement 2) :-

  • The third and the second friend, together had a total of Rs. 45,000 .

so,

→ Third friend + second friend = 45000

→ (x - 9000) + x = 45000

→ 2x = 45000 + 9000

→ 2x = 54000

→ x = Rs.27,000

then, Putting x = Rs.27,000 we get,

→ (x - 2000) + x + (x - 9000) = N

→ 3x - 11000 = N

→ 3 * 27000 - 11000 = N

→ 81000 - 11000 = N

→ N = Rs.70,000 .

Conclusion :-

  • Statement 2 alone is sufficient to answer the question.

Therefore , we can conclude that, Either statement alone is sufficient to answer the question .
