There is hardly any increase in atomic size with increasing atomic numbers in a series of transition metals. Give reason. [AI2012] |

Answer» s hardly any increase in the atomic SIZE with increasing atomic number because the FILLING of f ORBITALS starts before the d oritals and we knw that the f orbitals have poor shielding effect,so with growing nuclear charge the ELECTRONS are attracted more towards the NUCLEUS therefore there is no significant effect on the side. |
