the volume of a plastic covered sealed box is 350cm3 and the box has a mass 500g will the box float on water or sinl in water ?what will be the mass of water displased by the box |

Answer» If the density of an object is GREATER than WATER ( 1 g / cm³ ) then that object will sink. If it is less than water's density, then the object will float. Density = MASS / Volume Volume of object = 350 cm³ Mass of object = 500 g Density = 500 g / 350 cm³ Density = 1.42 g / cm³ Hence 1.42 > 1. This implies that the object will sink. Mass of water displaced = Density of Water * Volume => Mass of water displaced = 1 g / cm³ * 350 cm³ = 350 g Hence mass of water displaced = 350 g. |
