Let the two numbers be X , y . Consider x as larger number than y .

x + y = 50 _____(1)

x ÷ y = 4 ______(2)

Solution:

From EQUATION (2), we can find the value of x.

(2) => x = 4Y ( when y goes to RHS , it is multiplied)

Substitute the value of x = 4y in (1),

(1) => 4y + y = 50

5y = 50

y = 50 /5

y = 10.

Substitute the value of y in x = 4y ,

x = 4 (10)

x = 40

The two numbers are 40,10.
