the sum of the digits of a two-digit number is 12 if the number formed by reversing its digits is greater than the original number by 18 find the original number

Answer»

Lets assume that

One number = x

other number = 12-x

Now,

10(12-x) +x

120 - 10x +x

120-9x

After REVERSING digits

10x + 12-x

9x + 12

Acc to the question the new number is 18 more than the original number , so

9x +12 = 18 + 120 -9x

18x = 126

x = 126/18

x = 7

other number = 12-7= 5

Verification:

5+7 =12

After reversing digits

75 = 18+57

So 75 is 18 more than 57.

Hence verified
