Due to turbulence of flow of water, these particles are subject to peripheral cohesive and adhesive forces which make them stick to the WALLS of the horizontal pipe.[This EFFECT is very less in VERTICAL pipes because the dirt particles get less chance to stick to the walls of the vertical pipe due to gravity.]Cheers |
