The reaction, Cr2O3+ 2Al → Al2O3 + 2Cr (Δ∈ P = -421KJ) is thermodynamically feasible as is apparent from the Gibbs energy value. Why does it not take place at room temperature? |
|
Answer» Since ΔG is negative, the reaction is feasible. But certain amount of activation energy is required for this reaction to occur and hence it will not take place at room temperature (heating is required). |
