1.

The radii of two circles are 8 cm and 6 cm respectively. Find the radius of the circle having its area equal to the sum of the areas of the two circles.

Answer»

Radius of first circle = 8 cm

Area of first circle = πr2

= \(\frac{22}7\times8\times8\) cm2

Radius of second circle = 6 cm

Area of second circle = \(\frac{22}7\times6\times6\) cm2

Total area = \(\frac{22}7\times8^2 + \frac{22}7\times6^2\)

= \(\frac{22}7({64 +36})\) = \(\frac{22}7\times100\) cm2

πr2 = \(\frac{22}7\times100\)

r2 = 100

r = 10 cm
