Answer» Correct Answer - Option 2 : 12 Calculation: Let the present age of Sagun and Srishti be x and y years respectively Now, A/Q xy = 240 ----(1) And, 2y – x = 4 ⇒ x = 2y – 4 ----(2) From eq (1) and eq (2), (2y – 4)y = 240 ⇒ (y – 2)y = 120 ⇒ y2 – 2y – 120 = 0 ⇒ y2 – 12y + 10y – 120 = 0 ⇒ y(y – 12) + 10(y – 12) = 0 ⇒ (y – 12)(y + 10) = 0 y = 12 and y = -10 Age can not be in negative so y = -10 is neglected ∴ The present age of the Shristi is 12 years |
