given,

xy = 240 ...1

and

2y+4 = x


substituting for x in 1

(2y+4)y = 240

2y^2 + 4y -240 = 0 ...2

Divide eqn 2 by 4


y^2 + 2y - 120 =0

y^2 +12y - 10y - 120 = 0

y(y + 12) - 10 (y + 12) = 0

(y - 10) (y+12) = 0

y = 10 or y = -12

(ignore)


So Age of Nikita is y = 10 Years

and Age of Ankit is 240/y = 24 Years



AGE OF NIKITA is 10 YEARS
