Answer» (i) P(Boy and Girl passes examination) = P(B ∩G) = P(B) x P(G) = 3/5 x 2/5 = 6/25. (ii) P (at lest one of them passes the examination) = P(A ∪B) = P(A) + P(B) – P(A ∩B) P(B ∪G) = P(B) + P(G) – P(B ∩G) = 3/5 + 2/5 - 6/25 = (3 x 5 + 2 x 5 -6/25) = 19/25 = 0.76. |
