The perimeter of a rectangle is 40cm. The length of the rectangle is 4 cm less than 5 times its breadth. Find the length of the rectangle. Please answer.

Answer»

Answer:

let breadth be x

hence LENGTH =(5x-4)cm

perimeter of rectangle= 2(l+b)

              40                    = 2 (5x-4+x)

              40 / 2               = (5x+x-4)

               20                   = (6x-4)

               20+4               = 6x

             24 / 6              = x

              8                     =x

now PUT the value of x in length and breadth
