Rama Mehta loves and honours progress and modern scientific view of life. However she does not like that the valuable Indian traditions and customs should be sacrificed at the altar of modernity. Man, according to her, should have rational, scientifc and modern outlook on life. But it does not mean that the healthy traditions and customs that we have inherited from our forefathers have lost their values wholly. Some of them may not be as relevant today as they used to be in those days. But we cannot afford to reject them outright. Most of them still hold good. We should honour them and remember that without them we have no identity.

रमा मेहता जीवन के प्रति उन्नति के आधुनिक वैज्ञानिक दृष्टिकोण को प्यार करती हैं तथा उसका सम्मान करती हैं। परन्तु वह यह पसन्द नहीं करती हैं कि मूल्यवान भारतीय परम्पराओं और रीति-रिवाजों को आधुनिकता की वेदी पर चढ़ा दिया जाये। उनके अनुसार मनुष्य का जीवन के प्रति तर्कपूर्ण, वैज्ञानिक तथा आधुनिक दृष्टिकोण होना चाहिये। परन्तु इसका अर्थ यह नहीं है कि जो स्वस्थ परम्परायें और रीति-रिवाज हमने अपने पूर्वजों से प्राप्त किये हैं उन्होंने अपने मूल्य पूर्णत: खो दिये हैं। उनमें से कुछ आज इतने प्रासंगिक शायद न हों जितना वे उन दिनों हुआ करते थे। परन्तु उन्हें पूर्णत: नकार देने से हमारा काम नहीं चल सकता। उनमें से अधिकांश का अभी भी वही मान और मूल्य है। हमें उनका सम्मान करना चाहिये और याद रखना चाहिये कि उनके बिना हमारी कोई पहचान नहीं है।
