The mass of a body on the earth is 15 kg. What will be its weight on thesurface of moon.(g = 10 m/s 2 ) |
Answer» GIVEN:-
To FIND:-
Solution:-As we know that → Weight = mass× acceleration due to gravityFirstly we CALCULATE the weight of body on the earth's surface → We = m×g Substitute the VALUE we get → We = 15×10 → We = 150N ∴The weight of the body on the earth's surface is 150Newton. Now we know that the acceleration due to gravity on the moon's surface is equal to 1/6 acceleration due to gravity on Earth's Surface. Acceleration due to gravity on moon = 10×1/6= 10/6m/s² → Wm = m×g → Wm = 15×10/6 → Wm = 5 ×5 → Wm = 25N ∴ The weight of body on the moon surface is 25 NEWTON. |
