1.

The length of a rectangle is twice its breadth. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 27 cm, find its breadth and length

Answer»

Given :-

The length of a RECTANGLE = 2 × Breadth

The perimeter of the rectangle = 27 cm

To Find :-

The length of the rectangle.

The breadth of the rectangle.

Analysis :-

Consider the breadth as a variable and the length would be TWICE the length.

Make an equation accordingly.

Then find the value of the variable and substitute in the length as well.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • l = Length
  • b = Breadth
  • p = Perimeter

Let the breadth be 'x' and the length would be '2x'.

By the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Perimeter \ of \ rectangle=2(Length+Breadth)}}

Given that,

Perimeter (p) = 27 cm

Breadth (b) = x

Length (l) = 2x

Substituting their values,

= 2(2x + x) = 27

= 2(3x) = 27

= 6X = 27

Finding x,

x = 27/6

x = 4.5 cm

Breadth (b) = 4.5 cm

Length 2x = 4.5 × 2

Length (l) = 9 cm

Therefore, the length and breadth of the rectangle are 9 cm and 4.5 cm respectively.
