The height of the mercury column in a barometer is found to be 67.0cm at a certain place. Whatwould be the height of a water barometer at the same place? (Densities of mercury and waterare 1.36x104kg/m3and 1.0x103kg/m3)PLEASE HELP I WILL MARK AS BRAINLIEST |

Answer» Answer: Height of a mercury column = 67 CM or, 0.67 m As it is said about a single place so we can ASSUME the pressure to be equal in both the cases of mercury and water. Pressure in mercury = Pressure in water = h₁p₁g = h₂p₂g = (h₁p₁g) / (p₂g) = h₂ = (0.67*13600*9.8) / (1000*9.8) = h₂ = 89297.6/9800 = h₂ = 9.112 m = h₂ So, there will be a 9.112 m or, 911.2 cm of water column needed to measure the same pressure as mercury. Hope this HELPS. |
