1.

The difference between two complementary angles is 40 degrees. What are the two angles?

Answer»

Answer:

LET the TWO COMPLIMENTARY angles be X, y

x+y = 90° (definition of complimentary angles)

x-y = 40° (given)

if we the two equations

x+y+x-y  = 90°+40°

2x = 130°

x = 130°/2 = 65°

using x + y = 90°

y = 90° - x = 90° - 65° = 25°

The angles are

x = 65° and y = 25°
