y = x + 8

-x + y = 8 eq1

(x + 17) / (y - 1) = 3 / 2

2 (x + 17) = 3 (y - 1)

2x + 34 = 3y - 3

2x - 3y = -37 eq2

Multiply eq 1 by 2 we get

-2x + 2y = 16
2x -3y = -37

- y = -21

y = 21

Put y in eq. 2

2x - 3×21 = -37

2x = -37 + 63

x = 26

Rational no is = x/y = 21/26
