Answer» LET us take sugar as x and rice as y. so, 5k of sugar = 5x and 7kg of rice = 7y given, 5KG of sugar and 7kg of rice as 153 rs. so,5x+7y= = 153 -----(1) also, 7kg of sugar and 5 kg of rice is 147 rs. so, 7x+5y=153----(2) SOLVING the above two eqns. multiply (1) by 7 and (2) by 5 35x+49y = 1071 35x+25y = 735 ____________ 24y= 336 ___________ y = 14 substituting the value of y in (1) we get 5x+714= 153 5x+68 = 153 5x=153-68 5x=85 x= 17 so, the cost of 6kg of sugar = 617 = 102 rs and the cost of 10kg rice = 10*14 = 140 rs.

so,5x+7y= = 153 -----(1)

also, 7kg of sugar and 5 kg of rice is 147 rs. so, 7x+5y=153----(2)

SOLVING the above two eqns.

multiply (1) by 7 and (2) by 5

35x+49y = 1071

35x+25y = 735

y = 14

substituting the value of y in (1) we get

5x+7*14= 153

5x+68 = 153

5x=153-68

5x=85

x= 17

so, the cost of 6kg of sugar = 6*17 = 102 rs and the cost of 10kg rice = 10*14 = 140 rs.
