The balanced equation for a reaction is given below 2X + 3Y → 4I + mWhen 8 moles of x react with 15 moles of y, then i) Which is the limiting reagent?ii) Calculate the amount of products formed.iii) Calculate the amount of excess reactant left at the end of the reaction. |

Answer» 2X + 3Y → 4I + m. 8 mole of x requires → 3/2 × 8 = 12 mole of Y or 15 moles of Y requires → 2/3 × 15 = 10 moles of X but only 8 moles of X are given so. (i). X is limiting reagent (which decides product) (ii). 8 moles of X gives 16I and 4m. (iii). 3 moles of Y remains unreacted. |
