The area of a trapezium is 405 cm2. Its parallel sides are in the ration 4:5 and the distance between them is 18 cm. Find the length of each of the parallel sides. |
|
Answer» we know that the length of the parallel sides is 4xcm and 5xcm Height (h) = 18cm Area of trapezium = 405cm2 By using the formula Area of trapezium = ½ × (sum of parallel sides) × height 405 = ½ × (4x+5x) × 18 405 = ½ × (4x+5x) × 18 405 = (9x) × 9 9x = 405/9 x= 45/9 x = 5 ∴ The length of the other parallel side is 4x= 4 × 5 = 20 cm and 5x= 5 × 5 = 25 cm |
