Taking the mass of earth as 6.4×10²⁴m, Calculate the value of acceleration due to gravity at a height of 2000 km above the surface of Earth?

Answer»

GIVEN :-

MASS of earth = 6.4 × 10²⁴

Height from surface of earth = 2000 km

To FIND :-

The ACCELERATION due to gravity

Solution :-

we know that,

\sf g = \dfrac{Gm}{r^{2}}

here,

  • g = acceleration due to gravity;
  • G = Universal GRAVITATIONAL Constant
  • r = distance

\sf g = \dfrac{6.67 × 10^{-11} × 6.4 × 10^{24}}{2000^{2}}

\sf g = \dfrac{6.67 × 6.4 × 10^{13}}{4 × 10^{6}}

\sf g = \dfrac{6.67 × 1.6 × 10^{13}}{10^{6}}

thus, the acceleration due to gravity is \sf  \dfrac{6.67 × 1.6 × 10^{13}}{10^{6}}
