Answer» bicarbonates, rennin, PEPSINOGEN, HCl, small amount of lipases and intrinsic factor are the MAIN components of gastric juice.Mucus:- secreted by mucus neck cell or goblet cells.Lubrication and protection of the mucosal epithelium from excoriation by the highly concentrated HCl.Bicarbonates:- same as that of mucus.Rennin:- proteolitic enzyme found in gastric juice of infants which help in the digestion of milk PROTEINS.Pepsinogen:- Converted to active enzyme called pepsin by HCl.proteolitic enzyme.Convert proteins to PROTEOSES and PEPTONES(peptides).HCl:- provides acidic pH(pH 1.8)optimal for pepsins.Lipases:- digestion of lipids.Intrinsic factor:- essential for the absorption of vitamin B12. |
