Answer» Generally, three types of urbanization take place. They are: - In towns and cities, birth rate tends to be higher than the death rate and hence the urban population increases at a higher rate. This is known as natural population growth.
- Due to the change in the definition of village and town areas, many rural areas have been upgraded and now they fall in the categories of cities. This results in an increase in urban population. This can be seen in cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, etc.
- There is large scale migration of people from rural to urban areas which increases the urban population.
