Answer» I have an Acer x1700. I installed XP to get rid of Vista and now the sound and video are gone. It says there are "no devices." Can you please tell me what I need to download to get them back? Your help will be much appreciated.go to device manager and check if its missing drivers...YES it is. i have actually cured that. now i find the "video controller (VGA compatible)" also has disappeared! (This is the description it gives in the device manager). I can play videos from my hard drive (taken on camera etc) and from the Internet, but not DVDs.
I tried download one from the Acer site, but they only have ones for Vista.
Any help you provide will be much appreciated. Thank you! this kinda crap usually happens after down grading your SYSTEM from vista to xp...
when i say crap... i mean... DRIVER *censored*!!! ahhh!!!!!runaway!!!!
we in the buisness have so fourth nicnamed it diver *censored* and usually an alarm goes off in the building and we close shop for a week.
okay enough with the ridiculous stories and down with the *censored*..
dude all i think i can tell you here is keep FINDING the drivers for it as they disappear.. it sucks and its *censored*. but all techs will deal with it..
and if acer dont have it find other sites...
i could go SEARCHING if you LIKE?Download Everest http://majorgeeks.com/download4181.html
Install it then Open it, click Computer, then Summary. In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post. Don't include anything under line Debug - PCIFor DVDs you will need to install a software decoder, because XP does not come with one by default.
I believe K-lite mega codec pack will do this for you.
